How to Select Numbers
When this occurs it is possible that the selection isn't completely random, and for one reason or another, certain numbers are coming up more frequently than others. A number of factors could cause this.
- The game is played with Ping-Pong balls, none of which weighs exactly the same as others. Some may be lighter and others heavier, even if this involves differences measured by 1/100 or 1/1000 of an ounce. The lighter balls may have a tendency to rise faster than the heavier balls when hot air circulates them in the bowl. Thus, these lighter balls might move upward, or "draw," which is the casino term for balls moving upward into the goose.
- A ball may have a pinpoint hole or crack, or in other ways be flawed, and these balls will be less likely to draw.
- There may be an imperfection in manufacture which deadens a particular ball or balls. Anyone who plays table tennis knows that occasionally you get a ball that looks perfectly normal, but in fact has a dead spot that keeps it from bouncing as well as other balls.
If any of these situations are present, there is a definite bias that can be taken advantage of by astute players. However, since they can't examine the balls individually, they can only surmise that one of these factors is present.
Since it is to the casino's advantage to have a random game, the balls are constantly checked and rechecked before use in play, and those with nicks, scars, dents, or other imperfections are replaced immediately.
Basically, keno is a game of pure chance a random game flat perhaps must be bet randomly for best results. This doesn't mean that players should be oblivious to certain events repeating themselves, but when these events do occur, players am in a poor position to know why-whether the reason is luck or some definite bias in the balls or equipment.
