Some Splitting Pairs Memories
The personnel at the horseshoe weren't going to antagonize this woman, so I played in the third baseman's seat and no one even paid attention to me. All eyes were on the crazy woman, including floor men and a bunch of spectators. When she won, the woman would scream out loud, but that wasn't happening too often.
The cards weren't going to well. And it was rare for the table to have a favorable situation. This didn't make any difference to the madwoman, who poured out that money on her two hands, and eventually had no more bills. She said something in Chinese to one of here cronies, who then reached into a huge handbag and produced another wad of bills about four inches thick. And the betting continued.
After a half hour, I was down $500, with another $500 on the table. And then the cards suddenly turned favorable on one deal. No aces were dealt out at all for the first round, and only one ten , along with seven small cards. A plus 6 deck, and all four aces intact. I slid $300 in chips in to my betting box, up from my usual $50 wager. As the dealer paused with the cards in his hand, waiting for the Chinese woman to make her usual bets, she suddenly shook her head in agitated fashion.
“no, no bets.” She had picked this one moment to stop betting insanely and wanted the deal to pass her by. So now was the first baseman and my self. He had a $100 chip out, is usual bet. Didn't these fools know anything?
Since its one only two-way instead of four-way action, I pushed out the rest of my chips on my bet. I now had $520 here, counting some random nickel chips I had as extras after winning a small blackjack or two. Out went the cards.
The floormen were still wondering why the woman stopped betting, and one was talking to her about comping her party to their fancy restaurant in the back as the cards floated down on the table. The first baseman quickly turned over his cards. He had been dealt a blackjack.
