Some Splitting Pairs Memories

Now it was my turn. I saw an ace and quickly flipped over the cards. Snapper! But it wasn't a blackjack. I had two aces. The dealer showed a king of diamonds. Well, I had to split lose aces.

I reached into my wallet, but had just a few dollars in there, long with about $1,200 in traveler's checks. Putting one ace text to the other, I said to the dealer, “Mark the bed”.

He glanced one of the floormen, who nodded having seen he play often in the casino. He counted down my chips and about $520 in chips in front of him to mark the bet. And alt me ace. Well the horseshoe allows resplitting of aces, I pushed that ace aside and now had a pretty row of three them.

“Mark it “, I said, and once the floorman nodded and ace more $250 in chips were put down on the table as my marked bet. Now, I though, let me get three ten s and cash in. It I didn't get three tens. I got three 8s, one after another. I paid $1,560 out in bets, and right now I knew it was all lost, less some miracle happened, because the deck was loaded sixth-ten-value cards. I certainly hadn't gotten any.

The Chinese woman was clucking at my good luck, for she bought three 19s were terrific, but I knew better. The dealer look his time turning over his hole card as I stood up, ready go to the cashier's cage just behind me to cash out my traveler's checks and leave myself practically brought.

He turned over and 8! The case 8! A miracle. Four 8s like but it was something I nev er had seen before, not in a one-deck game. I collected my $1,560 and was now ahead over a thousand buck's. I've played a lot of blackjack in my life, but it's moments like these that stay fresh in my memory.
